A perfect mix of peppermint, sweet, and salty. These addicting treats are the perfect way to say, “I love you,” this Christmas!

Sometimes I feel like I am failing at Motherhood. Please tell me I am not alone! It’s been hard for me to transition from the toddler years to adolescence. Lately I’ve been struggling with second guessing myself – more than usual.
I was a doting Mother when my son was an infant and toddler because I loooooove being a Mom! It brings me the greatest joy! I loved the toddler years, they were my very favorite.
But as my son has gotten older I can’t allow myself to dote on him anymore. And I miss that. I certainly look for opportunities to shower him with love, but I expect him to help with the laundry, fold his clothes, clear the table, pick up after himself, and help with chores around the house instead of doing all of that for him. He doesn’t see it now, but requiring him to be an active part of the family is my gift to him.
You see, my husband is completely self-sufficient. He asks nothing of me and contributes just as much around the house as I do. In my mind, that trumps anything else he could do to say he loves me. I want that gift that he gives me every day to be the gift that keeps on giving in my son’s marriage some day.
It’s hard to stay consistent and empathetic through my son’s grumbling some days, but I know someday he’ll thank me. At least his wife will!

Ingredients for Peppermint Pretzel Bites
- Round Pretzels
- Hersey’s Candy Cane Kisses
- Christmas M&M’s

How to Make Peppermint Pretzel Bites
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Distribute 48 (or desired number) round pretzels evenly on the pan.
- Unwrap 48 (equal amount to pretzels) Hersey’s Candy Cane Kisses.
- Place unwrapped Hersey’s Candy Cane Kisses in the center of the pretzels.
- Put in the oven for 4 minutes.
- As soon as you remove the pan from the oven, press an M&M into the center of the Kisses. Repeat until all of the Peppermint Pretzel Bites are made.
- Let cool until the Hersey’s Kisses have hardened.

Tips for Making Peppermint Pretzel Bites
- The baking time may vary for you. Baking the Hersey’s Candy Cane Kisses for 4 minutes is the perfect amount of time for me. But ovens vary and you may need 4 1/2 – 5 minutes. Start with 4 minutes. The chocolate should nicely melt over the sides of the pretzels when you press the M&M into it. But, not so much that it drips over the side.
- You don’t have to use round pretzels. I prefer the round pretzels because the Hersey’s Candy Cane Kiss melts evenly and it looks nice, but they are only in the stores during the holiday’s. If you can’t find round pretzels, the next best option is the square pretzels. The Hersey’s Hug will also melt evenly and look equally as nice!
- Don’t try to make more than one pan of Peppermint Pretzel Bites at once. It’s best to make one pan at a time because you have to place the M&M on the melted Hersey’s Candy Cane Kiss quickly. If you make too many at once you won’t be able to get to all of them before the Kiss starts setting. You want to be able to easily press the M&M into the Hersey’s Kiss.
- Have the M&M’s ready to go by the time the oven timer goes off.
Can You Freeze Peppermint Pretzel Bites?
- Yes, you can freeze Peppermint Pretzel Bites! You can eat them frozen, too. Just place them in a freezer safe bag and they’ll keep up to 3 months.
- If you don’t need to freeze them, just keep them in a sealed container on the counter until you are ready to serve. They will stay fresh in a sealed container for a while, several weeks actually!

Being an adult is hard. Teaching my son how to be a responsible adult someday is even harder!
