What You’ll Need:
- 2 3/4 cups Flour
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 cup Butter, Softened
- 1 1/2 cups Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 2 tsp Vanilla
How to Make Chewy Sugar Cookies
- In a medium size bowl, whisk together 2 3/4 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp baking powder, and 1/2 tsp salt until well combined.
- In a separate large bowl, cream together 1 cup softened butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in 1 egg and 2 tsp vanilla.
- Slowly combine dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until dough forms. Cover and refrigerate dough for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and add 1/2 cup sugar to a small bowl.
- Scoop 1 inch balls of cookie dough and generously roll into the sugar. Place onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving room between the cookies to spread.
- Refrigerate dough between batches.
- Bake 9-11 minutes. Sprinkle additional sugar onto tops of the cookies as soon as they are removed from the oven.
