Oreo Ornaments
My son and I went to Wild Roots for lunch. It’s a cute, tiny little place so the tables are super close together. As we were waiting for our food, I couldn’t help but eavesdrop on the conversation next to us.
The couple started talking about the husband’s business and what he needs from her. She was very supportive and told him she would do whatever he needs her to do. As she talked about what her approach to his needs would be, she had me hooked. I wanted to learn from her!
Then things took a turn. She explained that by day she was willing to do what it takes to help her husband with his business, but by night she wanted to work on her side hustle. She sounded very passionate and excited about it. It got to the point of her begging for his support, but he wouldn’t budge. He started putting her down, doubting her ability, and discouraging her from following her dream.
He was so rude, saying things like her love of this dream wasn’t lucrative, it wouldn’t pay the bills, etc. He was such a jerk. The look on her face made me want to cry for her. I just wanted to interrupt them and tell her to follow her dream no matter what anyone tells her! She knows what she wants and he is holding her back because of what HE wants.
He eventually cut her off, wouldn’t hear her anymore and said they were leaving. I was emotional over someone else’s business, I guess that’s what I get for not minding my own. But I’m not sure if I was feeling that way because I empathized with her or if it’s that I just felt that much more grateful for my husband’s support!
As I reflect on all of the earthly gifts I have received, his support of my dream has been by far the best one ever!
He doesn’t mind when I turn the kitchen upside down to make these super cute Oreo Ornament Cookies! He especially likes it when I make some of his favorites, like Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge and 2-Ingredient Peanut Butter Cup Cookies!
What You’ll Need:
- 24 Double Stuffed Oreos
- 24 Mini-Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
- 24 oz White Chocolate Chips
- Christmas Sprinkles
How to Make Oreo Ornament Cookies
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Pour the white chocolate chips into a microwave save bowl and microwave in 30 second increments, removing the bowl to stir between each 30 second interval. Repeat microwaving and stirring until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Using a fork, dip an Oreo into the melted chocolate. Cover the Oreo with the melted chocolate using the fork, do not stir cookie around in the chocolate.
- Lift the covered cookie out of the chocolate with the fork. Lightly tap on the side of the bowl allowing the extra to drip off and slide the cookie bottom across the edge of the bowl lightly to remove access chocolate. Set on parchment paper.
- Place mini-Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup on the top of the Oreo to make it look like an ornament.
- Sprinkle top of the cookie with Christmas sprinkles or Christmas candy and let harden.
- Repeat until desired number of Oreo’s are done.
Tips:
- Oreo – It’s best to use double stuffed Oreo’s because they are thicker. That way the mini-Reese’s cups are proportionate to the cookie.
- Dipping – Make sure not to roll the Oreo around in the melted white chocolate. It’s best to cover the cookie with the melted chocolate after you put it in the bowl, that way black cookie crumbs don’t dirty the melted chocolate.
- Sprinkles and candy – You can use whatever Christmas sprinkles and candy you want!
- Ornament top – You can use mini-Reese’s cups or Rolo’s, they are interchangeable.
