A perfect mix of sweet, salty, soft, and crunchy. These addicting treats are the perfect compliment to any Christmas party!
I am a little quirky. Okay, maybe a lot quirky! If there is a mainstream way of doing something, I usually try it once and then do it differently the next time. For example, you can wait around for potatoes to bake for what seems like an eternity OR you can just pop them in the microwave for 10 minutes first and then the oven for 10 minutes and wa-la! Baked potatoes that didn’t take all night.
Or, if you have leftover Halloween candy sprinkle it on top of brownies and bake as directed on the box. It’s a great way to use up the candy and spice up traditional brownies!
This one is my favorite… My son doesn’t like hot dogs, so when we have hot dogs for dinner I put a banana in a bun with peanut butter and jelly!
I’m always up for trying a new time savings hack! Like using my huge outdoor refrigerator – the deck! The cold winter months make baking easier for me because I can just set things out on the deck to cool off much quicker than if I set them in the refrigerator. And I don’t have to move stuff around in the refrigerator when I have a big pan. Refrigerating these saves a lot of time because they harden quickly in the cold so you are able to pop them off and make another batch quickly!

Tips for Making Mint M&M Christmas Pretzels with Hugs
- The baking time may vary for you. Baking the Hersey’s Hugs for 4 minutes is the perfect amount of time for me. But ovens vary and you may need 4 1/2 – 5 minutes. Start with 4 minutes. The chocolate should nicely melt over the sides of the pretzels when you press the Mint M&M into it. But, not so much that it drips over the side.
- These do not have to be a seasonal treat. You can actually get Mint M&M’s year round now! They just don’t have the red and green mixture in the bag like they do for Christmas.
- You don’t have to use round pretzels. I prefer the round pretzels because the Hersey’s Hug melts evenly and it looks nice, but they are only in the stores during the holiday’s. If you can’t find round pretzels, the next best option is the square pretzels. The Hersey’s Hug will also melt evenly and look equally as nice!
- Don’t try to make more than one pan of Mint M&M Christmas Pretzels with Hugs at once. It’s best to make one pan at a time because you have to place the Mint M&M on the melted Hersey’s Hug quickly. If you make too many at once you won’t be able to get to all of them before the Hug starts setting. You want to be able to easily press the Mint M&M into the Hersey’s Hug!
- Have the M&M’s ready to go by the time the oven timer goes off. I usually just pour them into a bowl so I can easily grab the red and green ones.
- You don’t have to use Mint M&M’s. You can use any M&M you’d like!
Can You Freeze Mint M&M Christmas Pretzels with Hugs?
- Yes, you can freeze Mint M&M Christmas Pretzels with Hugs! You can eat them frozen, too. Just place them in a freezer safe bag and they’ll keep up to 3 months.
- If you don’t need to freeze them, just keep them in a sealed container on the counter until you are ready to serve. They will stay fresh in a sealed container for a while, several weeks actually!
Keep in mind that your treats are not all going to look perfect. You’ll have some imperfections. I picked out the ones that turned out best for my pictures. So don’t get discouraged when you pull them out of the oven and some of them look like misfits. That is totally normal! Those are the ones we use for quality control!
