Coated to perfection with a sweet cinnamon sugar mixture. These candied pecans are a simple & delicious Christmas gift idea!
Candied Pecans in Oven
Our local mall was torn down. I am guilty of contributing to it’s demise because I do most of my shopping online. It’s just too easy!
Except for the holidays! I looooove walking through shopping centers when they are decorated for Christmas. When my sister was alive we lived for shopping during the holiday season. We literally shopped until we dropped. It was our very, very favorite time of the year!
We always made sure to stop by the ‘nut guy’ and get a big bag of candied nuts. We lied to ourselves and said we would share with our husband’s, but that was only to justify getting the big bag! They never actually made it home to share with them.
These are such a great gift idea for the holiday’s! They check all the boxes – easy to make homemade gift, smell and taste delicious, and you can make them as far in advance as you need to! They are a life saving idea that is sure to please the person receiving them!
Or, if you need to put together a platter of treats with the Candied Pecans you could include Peanut Brittle, Almond Bark Clusters, and Rolo Pretzel Turtles!
What You’ll Need:
- 1 lb Pecan Halves
- 1 Egg White
- 1 tbsp Water
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Salt
How to Make Candied Pecans
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Line large baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a large bowl whisk 1 egg white with 1 tbsp water and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract until frothy. Add 1 lb pecan halves to the egg white mixture and toss until evenly coated.
- In a separate small bowl, mix 1 cup sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 1/2 tsp salt together until well combined.
- Pour sugar mixture over pecans and toss until evenly coated.
- Pour coated pecans onto preparing baking pan and spread out evenly.
- Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
Recipe Notes:
- Timer – I set 2 timers when making these. The first timer is for the full 45 minutes baking time; the second timer is for every 15 minutes these need to be stirred. When the 15 minutes is up, I remove the pecans and stop both timers. When you put the pecans back in the oven, set the timers again each time reducing the first timer by 15 minutes. That way you pick up where you left off baking each time you put them back in the oven!
- Storing – After these have cooled, you can store them in a sealed container on the counter or in a freezer safe bag in the freezer.
- Gift – These work perfectly as a thoughtful, homemade gift!
