A traditional Fall experience that fills the room with the delicious, comforting smell of apples and cinnamon!

Homemade Applesauce on the Stove
I know, I know. You can either buy applesauce for cheap at the grocery store or you can slave away in the kitchen making your own and they taste pretty close to the same thing. I’ve told myself this for years. Except, they are not pretty close to the same thing because Homemade Applesauce tastes WAY better!
I grew up accustomed to canned applesauce. My parents can it every Fall and stock their pantry full. It’s always been a comforting, filling food for me.
When I moved out I started buying it from the store and it just wasn’t the same. It’s awful. It’s thin and watery and it’s not filling at all. There is a HUGE difference in the heartiness and texture between homemade and store bought applesauce. They just do not compare!
My parents have fancy canning equipment that they use. I do not. So, I thought I would try making applesauce over the stove top. This is a fun, easy, and productive way to spend time together as a family!
If you have apples to use up, try making some of my other favorites like Easy Apple Crisp, Apple Fritters, Chocolate Caramel Candied Apple Pops, Apple Dumplings with Crescent Rolls, or Apple Fritter Cinnamon Roll Bake!

What You’ll Need:

- Carefully puree the apples in a food processor until smooth. Note: Don’t fill the processor too full, it’s best to divide apples in half or thirds to puree.
- Pour into a large bowl and stir. Taste the applesauce and if needed add a spoonful of sugar and a dash of cinnamon and mix again. Repeat until you are happy with the taste of the applesauce!

Recipe Notes:
- Apples – 6 lbs of apples is 1/2 peck.
- Juice – You can use apple juice or apple cider, either works!
- Lemon Juice – You can use the juice of 1 lemon or 1 tsp lemon juice.
- Food Processor – A blender works instead of a food processor. Just blend lightly.
