Best Cranberry Christmas Cake
I used to work with a guy who hated his job. All he wanted to do was return to working in the cranberry bogs, that’s where is passion was. But he made a lot more money at the job he hated and had built a lifestyle around it. Working at the cranberry bogs wouldn’t support the way of life he had gotten used to.
He was miserable. Every time he was close to talking himself into going back to the bogs, he talked himself right out of it… all because of the money. There is no amount of money that will make people happy. When you are doing what makes you happy, the money will come, and it will feel effortless.
I’ve always been a firm believer that with calculated risk, faith, and sacrifice comes great reward. We have one short life to live. We can take the path of least resistance because it’s predictable and stable, and be miserable. Or, we can have faith, take the risk, pivot when situations arise, and live our best life!
To God be the glory that He gives me the strength I need to get through the trials in my life. There have been many times when I’ve felt helpless. It was through prayer I found hope. My faith was built as I waited (impatiently) for Him to help me navigate the rough seas of life.
I knew that if God could help me through the conflict we’ve overcome in our marriage, the financial hardships, the many different losses we’ve had, the failures, the mistakes, the challenges of parenting, the pressures and agenda of the world, health set backs, and everything in between… I knew He’d show me the way as I transitioned from a stable income to one that ebbs and flows.
As you celebrate Christmas this year, remember it’s not about giving the best gifts or spending the most money. It’s about the sacrifice that Christ made for us. He died to set us free. When we focus on Him and the reason for the season, we feel peace instead of pressure!
