A sweet and tangy side dish that traditionally compliments your family’s favorite holiday meal!

Cranberry Relish with Orange
There are some things that you only make for the holiday’s, and this Cranberry Relish is one of them. You could serve this for Thanksgiving or Christmas, or both! This is a more traditional recipe. If Thanksgiving meal preparations were up to me, I’d open a can of cranberry sauce. But if you know my Grandma, you know that’s not happening!
What is the Difference Between Cranberry Relish & Cranberry Sauce?
Cranberry Relish, like pictured, is made from real ingredients and is textured. In this recipe, you will use actually cranberries, an orange, and walnuts. It’s more fresh and tart tasting!
Cranberry Sauce is cooked and smooth. It commonly comes already made in a can. It’s much sweeter and not tart!

What You’ll Need:
- 1 (3 oz) package Raspberry Jello
- 1 cup Water, Boiling
- Juice of 1 Orange + Water to Equal 1 Cup
- 1 lb Cranberries
- 1/2 Orange Peel
- 1 1/2 cup Sugar
- 2/3 cup Walnuts

How to Make Cranberry Relish
- Bring 1 cup water to a boil in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Dissolve 1 (3 oz) package of raspberry Jello into the boiling water.
- Add in the juice from an orange, plus enough water to equal 1 cup when combined with the orange juice. Set aside to chill.
- When the jello begins to congeal, put 1 lb cranberries and the peel of 1/2 orange in a food processor. Add to the jello.
- Then add 1 1/2 cups sugar and 2/3 cup walnuts and mix well. Chill until firm.
Tips:
- Processing time – Do not grind the cranberries and orange peel until jello starts to congeal. If they sit too long they will be watery and the jello won’t set.
- Congeal – This means to ‘take shape,’ as it changes from a liquid to a solid.
