Easy Oreo Fudge
When I first started this blog I really, really struggled with taking pictures. I agonized over it. I used my phone at first. Terrible doesn’t even begin to describe how they turned out. But, I used them regardless.
I was finally able to upgrade to a nice camera and it was extremely intimidating. Using a phone is simple, but a camera has so many options. I read through the entire book that came with it, wasn’t helpful. I started watching YouTube videos, still wasn’t helpful. Then I found a Facebook group for food photographers that looked promising. I shared a picture with the group asking for advice – I wanted to know why my camera wouldn’t focus. The pictures I was taking were blurry.
Someone kindly replied that my camera didn’t have anything to focus on. I needed to give it a focal point, embellish it with food used in the recipe. I felt silly. It was such a simple and easy solution! Then someone gave me a nasty response to the picture and went as far as including the ‘gross’ emoji.
I left the group and never looked back. I already knew the picture was bad, that’s why I was asking for help. I wanted to desperately learn how to take better pictures, that’s why I was in the group! Being rude and pointing out what I already knew wasn’t necessary, so I left.
I moved on and kept looking for helpful resources. I found the same advice over and over and it wasn’t anything profound – just keep practicing. That advice goes for everything in our lives. Nobody starts at their goal, they work toward it. You grow, evolve, and get better along the way! Sure, there will be discouragement but don’t let it stop you.
If being in the kitchen intimidates you, start by making something easy like this Oreo Fudge! Some of my other favorite easy recipes are Rolo Pretzel Turtles, 3-Ingredient Twix Bites, Butter Toffee Pretzels, and 2-Ingredient Peanut Butter Cup Cookies!
