These cute little Bunny Butt Cookies tuck nicely into Easter baskets for a fun surprise treat!
Bunny Butt Cookies
The bunnies in our backyard have it made! They live under our neighbor’s shed and mow down my favorite flowers every.single.year. My husband calls my flowers a ‘bunny buffet.’ HA! I have tried everything to try and discourage them from eating my flowers. They laugh at my efforts. I literally walked right by one on the way to the bird feeder – he didn’t even flinch as he enjoyed his dinner. It’s as if he looked at me like his waitress!
Those pesky bunnies know that both my husband and I are too soft to do anything to evict them. We talk big, but we both know we’ll never actually do anything about it. There has GOT to be a nice way to ask them to leave! Anyone have any ideas? Please, I beg you, send them my way.
Maybe if I sprinkle some Bunny Bait away from my flowers it will distract them? Or maybe they would prefer Carrot Cake Cupcakes? Peeps S’mores Dip?! Or how about the entire Carrot Cake??!!
What You’ll Need:
- 12 Double Stuffed Oreo’s
- 1 (12 oz) bag White Chocolate Chips
- Wilton Easter Rabbit Icing Decorations (Includes Tail, Feet, and Sprinkles)
How to Make Oreo Bunny Butt Cookies
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Pour a bag of white chocolate chips in a bowl and microwave for 30 seconds. Remove from the microwave, stir, and place back in the microwave for an additional 30 seconds. Remove and stir until completed melted.
- Place an Oreo in the melted white chocolate and lightly press the Oreo into the chocolate with your finger. Using a fork, lightly cover the Oreo with the white chocolate.
- Then, scoop the Oreo out of the melted white chocolate with the fork and lightly tap the fork against the side of the bowl so the access chocolate falls off. Slide the bottom of the fork against the side of the bowl to remove the access chocolate from the bottom of the Oreo.
- Place the chocolate covered Oreo on the parchment paper lined pan. Repeat until you have done this to four Oreo’s.
- Once you have four Oreo’s covered in melted white chocolate, apply the tail and feet to the Oreo’s as shown in the picture. Then cover the exposed chocolate with the white sprinkles.
- Repeat two more times, for a total of 12 Oreo Bunny Butt Cookies.
- Let sit until completely dry and firm.
Recipe Notes:
- Oreo – I recommend using Double Stuffed Oreo’s because the thickness of the Oreo is proportionate to the size of the tail and feet. And, it’s a great reason to get Double Stuffed Oreo’s!
- White chocolate – You may require more or less melted white chocolate. I would have extra on hand just in case you need more.
- Dunking – When placing the Oreo in the melted white chocolate, just lightly press it down with your finger. Don’t move the Oreo around in the chocolate. If you do, small black specks from the Oreo will be left in the chocolate and you’ll loose the clean white look of the bunny.
- Decorating – The recipe suggests not to place the tail, feet, and sprinkles on until four Oreo’s are covered in melted white chocolate. The candy tail and feet are heavy and they will slide if you place them on the melted chocolate right away. Letting it stand for a few minutes gives the chocolate time to harden so when you place the tail and feet on they don’t slide off the cookie.
- Cookie pop – If you are feeling adventurous, you can put a stick through the Oreo before dunking and create Oreo Bunny Butt pops instead of cookies!
- Wilton pieces – You can find the Easter Rabbit Icing Decorations at Target, Wal-Mart, or any craft/hobby store. If not, you can order the feet on Amazon and skip the tails (or improvise!)
