A Vegetarian Patty that can be served as a burger or with gravy! They are healthy, freezer-friendly, and easy to make!

Healthy Vegetarian Patties
My Grandma has index card boxes full of recipes this world has never heard of, like this one. They are actually called Sandi’s Suburb Burgers, but Google isn’t familiar with that recipe name so I renamed it to Vegetarian Patties. You can serve them slathered in gravy or stacked with tomatoes and lettuce in a hamburger bun!

What You’ll Need:
- 1 cup TVP, Minced
- 1 tsp McKay’s Beef Seasoning
- 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 cup Boiling Water
- 1/4 of Onion, Finely Chopped
- 1 slice Whole Wheat Bread
- 2 tbsp Flour
- 2 Eggs
Where to Find TVP:

How to Make Vegetarian Patties
- Boil 1 cup of water then add it to a large bowl with the following ingredients already mixed: 1 cup minced TVP, 1 tsp McKay’s Beef Seasoning, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, and 1/2 tsp salt.
- Cover and let stand for 5 minutes.
- Dice 1/4 of a small onion and finely chop it. Add to the bowl.
- Stir in 1 slice of whole wheat bread, breaking into pieces as you drop into the bowl, 2 tbsp flour, and 2 eggs. Mix well to combine.
- Let stand for 5 minutes.
- Spray a frying pan with non-stick spray. Form dough into patties and place onto prepared pan. Brown for 2-3 minutes on both sides.
Tips:
- TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein) – If you are placing an order, then order the TVP chunks too so you can try my Dad’s Vegetarian Beefless Stew!
- Non-stick spray – When my Grandma makes these patties, she sprays the top side of the patty before flipping.
- Burgers – You can use these patties as burgers, too!
- Freezing – These freeze nicely in a freezer safe bag. Just allow them to cool completely before putting them in the bag.
