A cute classroom treat to celebrate Earth Day in a fun way! Top with any Earth Day embellishments you’d like!
Oreo Dirt Cake Cups with Cream Cheese
I am on a mission to make as many different themed Oreo Dirt Cake Cups as I can think of. It’s a popular recipe on the blog, so I want to give my readers more of what they want!
I thought I had made a complete list of ideas, until my son’s teacher asked if I would make Earth Day Oreo Dirt Cake Cups! I was thrilled! Not only was I super excited to make them for her classroom, but it didn’t occur to me to make these for Earth Day! What a great idea!
As I was putting these together I was getting frustrated with how to embellish them. My husband thought he’d help… and it was hilarious! He tried so hard to decorate one the way he thought I’d like it… he put one of everything on top, it was so sweet! But it was too much so I discretely set it aside.
He later came over to see how pictures of his creation were turning out and was surprised to see it wasn’t front and center… and even more surprised when he realized it wasn’t there at all! He was so proud of it, only to have his hopes and dreams of contributing something to the blog dashed!
If you have as much fun with dirt cake cups as we do, then I think you’ll like decorating these Oreo Dirt Cake Cups and Easter Oreo Dirt Cake Cups, too!

How to Make Earth Day Oreo Dirt Cake Cups
- Crush the entire package of Oreo’s and set aside.
- In a separate small bowl, mix 1/2 stick softened butter, 1 cup powdered sugar, and 8 oz of softened cream cheese until smooth.
- In a separate large bowl, mix 2 packages of instant vanilla pudding and 3 1/2 cups of milk together. Fold in 12 oz of Cool Whip. Mix.
- Pour cream cheese mixture into the pudding mixture and mix together until well combined.
- Divide the mixture evenly between two bowls. Color one mixture blue and the other green according to your preference.
- In individual cups of your choice, layer as follows:
- Green pudding mixture & gummy worm
- Crushed Oreo’s
- Blue pudding mixture & gummy worm
- Crushed Oreo’s
- Garnish top with remaining crushed Oreo’s and Earth Day embellishments.
Recipe Notes & Variations:
- Make Ahead – These hold up nicely if you make them one day ahead, but I don’t recommend making them any farther ahead than that. The cookie crumbs will start to soften.
- Pudding – Any brand of chocolate pudding will work, but it must be instant. Use the 3.4 oz size box.
- Variations:
- Graveyard – Use tombstone shaped cookies and write R.I.P. on them. Stick into the top of each cup and garnish with pumpkins.
- Sandy Beach – Use golden Oreos and decorate with little umbrellas.
- Construction – Use a small shovel and/or toy tractor to garnish with.
- Dinosaur – Use small toy dinosaurs to decorate with.
- Easter – Use bunny Peeps, candy eggs, pastel M&M’s, and/or sprinkles.
- Flower – Use little flowers to garnish with.
- Traditional – Use a few gummy worms.
