Rice Krispies Treats are one of my favorite go-to recipes. The most popular recipe on the blog are these Peanut Butter Rice Krispies Treats! And these Cake Batter Rice Krispies Treats and LEGO Rice Krispies Treats are great for birthday parties!
When I feel like changing up the original recipe, I make these Avalanche Bars! They taste just like a crunchy Reese’s with white chocolate. And you can make them into Avalanche Cookies, too!

What You’ll Need:
- 1 (12 oz) bag White Chocolate Chips
- 1/4 cup Creamy Peanut Butter
- 3 cups Rice Krispies
- 1 1/2 cups Mini-Marshmallows
- 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp Mini-Chocolate Chips

How to Make Avalanche Bars
- Pour 3 cups Rice Krispies into a bowl and set aside.
- Melt 1 (12 oz) bag White Chocolate Chips and 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter together until smooth.
- Pour the melted white chocolate chips and peanut butter mixture over the Rice Krispies and stir until well combined.
- Let cool for 20 minutes stirring every 5 minutes to help cool.
- Add 1 1/2 cups mini-marshmallows and 1/4 cup mini-chocolate chips and stir to combine.
- Pour mixture into an 9 x 9 pan, pressing the mixture down slightly to spread evenly.
- Sprinkle 2 tbsp mini-chocolate chips over the top to garnish and lightly press in.
Recipe Notes:
- Melting chocolate – You can either melt the white chocolate in the microwave and stir every 30 seconds until it’s completely melted, or you can melt over low heat on the stove top.
- Press lightly – Make sure to press lightly when spreading out the mixture into the pan. If you press down too firmly, the bars will be hard.
- Garnish – You can garnish with additional mini-marshmallows if you’d like. Be sure to keep the bars covered, though. The marshmallows will dry out and become hard otherwise.
- Storing – Make sure to store the bars in a sealed container so they don’t dry out and become crumbly.
