4th of July Rice Krispie Treats for a Crowd!
This whole Christmas in July trend needs to stop! The LAST thing I am thinking about in July is Christmas. I loooove the 4th of July and all things summer, I want to enjoy the season while it’s here! I am not about to let Christmas bells ring in place of fireworks. Sheesh! I love Christmas, but in no way will it be creeping into the middle of my Summer! It’s staying in the winter where it belongs!
Okay, now that I got that off my mind we can celebrate our independence with these 4th of July Rice Krispies Treats. I think all of us can appreciate an easy to make dessert with a short list of ingredients that doesn’t require the heat of the oven in the middle of Summer!
Why this Recipe Works:
- Butter and Marshmallows Create the Perfect Base – Melting butter with marshmallows forms a smooth, rich coating that evenly binds the cereal.
- Marshmallows Provide Structure and Chewiness – The melted marshmallows act as the glue, holding everything together while giving the treats their signature soft and chewy texture.
- Ratio Keeps Them Soft, Not Hard – This recipe uses a balanced ratio of butter, marshmallows, and cereal, so the treats stay moist and flexible instead of dry or overly firm.
- Perfection – The final result is a perfectly soft, chewy, and crispy Rice Krispie Treats with a fun patriotic twist that is both easy to make and crowd pleasing!

Ingredients You’ll Need:
- 4 tbsp Butter (Melted) – Adds rich flavor and helps melt the marshmallows smoothly, creating that soft, gooey texture.
- 1 (12 oz) bag Marshmallows – The key ingredients that melts into a sticky coating, binding the cereal together and giving the treats their classic chewy consistency.
- 6 cups Rice Krispies – Provides the light, crispy texture that balances the gooey marshmallow mixture.
- Red, White & Blue Sprinkles – Adds festive color and a bit of extra sweetness, making the treats perfect for 4th of July celebrations!

How to Make 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats
- Spray 9 x 13 pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
- Using the microwave, melt 4 tbsp butter in a microwave safe bowl.
- Stir in a bag of marshmallows. Put back in the microwave for 45 seconds. Remove and stir. Return to the microwave for additional 45 seconds and stir.
- Remove bowl from the microwave and stir in 6 cups of Rice Krispies.
- Once well mixed, pour mixture into prepared pan.
- Push around the mixture in the pan to evenly distribute, but don’t firmly press down yet. Sprinkle desired amount of red, white & blue sprinkles over the top of the mixture, then firmly press mixture evenly in the pan. This helps secure the sprinkles.
- Let cool, then cut into bars and serve.
Pro Tip: Place a Ziplock bag over your hand and spray the outside of the bag with non-stick spray before pressing down the Rice Krispie Treats. This helps to keep them from sticking to your hand!

My Best Tips:
- Use Fresh Marshmallows – They melt smoother and give you that perfect gooey texture. Old ones can make treats dry or stiff.
- Mix Gently – Fold the cereal in gently, not aggressively. Overmixing can crush the cereal and make the treats dense instead of light and crispy.
- Don’t Press Too Hard Into the Pan – Lightly press the mixture into the pan – packing it down firmly will make the treats hard and compact instead of soft.
- Add Sprinkles Right Away – Sprinkle your red, white, and blue sprinkles on right after pressing, while the mixture is still warm so they stick easily.
- Use Non-Stick Spray on Tools – Greasing your tools with non-stick spray, including your hands, will prevent sticking and makes spreading easier without compressing the mixture.
