Acorn Donut Holes Recipe
If you know me personally, or if you’ve been a loyal follower of my blog, (thank you!!) then you know I am a HUGE fan of Focus on the Family’s Adventures in Odyssey! I HIGHLY recommend the radio program to kids from age 8 all the way to adult. Both my husband & I enjoy their stories just as much as our son does!
I swapped TV with podcasts (a story for another day) and I came across the Adventures in Odyssey podcast. At first I thought it was stories, but when I told my son about it he looked into it and discovered the podcast episodes are actually about interviewing the cast, behind the scenes stuff, etc.
We were intrigued, so we tuned in. The first episode I listened to was about how the program got started. I was fascinated – mostly because I can personally relate to the ups and downs, mistakes, faith, and grit that it takes to push through an idea I believe in.
The co-creators of the program were being interviewed. They went all the way back to when the show started in 1986. They shared the obstacles they faced because of the lack in technology at the time, and they also said that they didn’t share the same vision for the show.
Their exact words were, “We had different ideas about where things ought to go, but we worked them out.” Then they went on to explain the different ideas they had.
Fast forward to today, and they recently released their 1,000 episode. They pushed through their differing opinions and created a beautiful program that parents can trust.
Disagreements can be with anyone – our spouse, our children, our siblings, our co-workers, our best friend, our parents. We are raising children in a world of conflict.
But, here’s the thing. While it may be an unpopular opinion, not all conflict is bad. Navigating conflict in a healthy way builds resilience, emotional intelligence, and confidence. With good intentions and the power of prayer, you can work together with a difference in opinion just as good as if you agreed on everything. I think it’s safe to say, that’s what marriage is!
There isn’t one person on earth with all of the answers. There is not one person on earth who is always right. Only God knows everything. That’s why working together as a team, using each person’s strengths, produces the best results.
