Best Apple Fritter Cinnamon Roll Bake Recipe!
If you love Apple Fritters and warm cinnamon rolls, this Apple Fritter Cinnamon Roll Bake combines the best of both worlds in one easy breakfast casserole. Fluffy cinnamon rolls are layered with tender apples, rich brown sugar, warm cinnamon, and buttery goodness, then topped with sweet icing for a cozy breakfast that’s perfect for holidays, brunches, and lazy weekend mornings!
The best part? This recipe starts with refrigerated cinnamon rolls, making it incredibly simple to prepare while still delivering bakery-style flavor! Every bite is filled with soft cinnamon rolls, caramelized apples, and sweet glaze, creating a comforting dish that tastes like it came straight from your favorite bakery!
Why this Recipe Works:
- Cinnamon Rolls Provide a Shortcut Base – Eliminating the need to make dough from scratch while still delivering a soft, bakery style texture.
- A Splash of Water Helps Soften the Apples – Ensuring they become tender and blend seamlessly with the cinnamon rolls.
- The Included Icing Adds the Finishing Touch – Creating a sweet glaze that mimics the icing found on traditional apple fritters.
- Butter Adds Richness and Helps the Brown Sugar Melt into a Delicious Syrup – Which infuses the entire casserole as it bakes.
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- 1 can Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls – Serves s the soft, fluffy base of the casserole while providing the classic cinnamon roll flavor and included icing.
- 2 Apples (Peeled, Cored, Sliced & Diced) – Adds fresh apple flavor, natural sweetness, and creates the signature apple fritter inspired filling throughout the bake.
- 1 tbsp Brown Sugar + 1/3 cup Brown Sugar – Sweetens the apples and creates a rich, caramel like flavor that mimics a traditional apple fritter filling.
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon – Adds warm spice and enhances the cozy apple pie flavors in every bite.
- 1 tbsp Water – Helps soften the apples as they cook and allows the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat them evenly.
- 5 tbsp Butter (Melted) – Adds richness and moisture while helping create a buttery, caramelized cinnamon sugar sauce throughout the casserole.
How to Make an Apple Fritter Cinnamon Roll Bake
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray a glass pie pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
- Remove cinnamon rolls from the package and slice each cinnamon roll into 6 pieces. Distribute the pieces evenly throughout the pan. They will fall apart a little, that’s okay!
- Peel, core, slice, and dice 2 apples. Place them in a bowl and toss them in 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, and 1 tbsp water. Cover the bowl loosely with paper towel and microwave for 2 minutes.
- Remove from the microwave and drain the water out. Sprinkle the diced apples evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces.
- Melt 5 tbsp butter in the microwave, covering loosely with a paper towel. Once melted, stir in 1/3 cup brown sugar. Then pour over the apples and cinnamon rolls.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes. Before removing from the oven, use a toothpick to poke around the center to make sure the cinnamon rolls are baked. Cover with aluminum foil if additional time is needed past 30 minutes to keep from getting too dark. Be careful not to overbake.
- Remove from the oven and let the cinnamon rolls sit for 10 minutes. Place the icing that came with the cinnamon rolls in the microwave for 10 seconds and drizzle all over.
My Best Tips:
- Choose Firm Apples – Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, Pink Lady, or Fuji apples hold their shape well during baking and provide the best texture.
- Save the Icing Packets – The icing that comes with the cinnamon rolls should be drizzled on after baking for the best flavor and texture.
- Serve Warm – This casserole is at its best when served warm, with gooey cinnamon rolls, tender apples, and melted icing in every bite.

I did not have the canned cinnamon rolls, so used butter biscuits instead. Simply added extra cinnamon to the cut up rolls. Also did not have any fresh apples, so used a can of apple pie filling (chopped the apples up smaller). It turned out very good and all loved it here on this beautiful fall morning. Now…on to get all those leaves raked!!
Oh my goodness, looove this!! Thank you so much for sharing! I love hearing from you and I love hearing your variation of the recipe!!
