The Best Homemade Garlic Bread
This Homemade Garlic Bread tastes like home to me. It’s my Grandma’s recipe, she has made so many loaves of bread she could do it in her sleep! This bread is so perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and it’s packed with such great flavor in every single bite!
One of our favorite meals is this garlic bread along with my Mom’s Vegetarian Lasagna. My husband gets very excited when he knows that’s what we are having for Sabbath lunch at my parents house!
This delicious garlic bread goes with just about anything! You could have it with Vegetarian Spaghetti and Meatballs, Vegetarian White Chicken Lasagna, Rice Krispie Vegetarian Meatballs, or Vegetarian Pecan Patties!
What You’ll Need for the Bread:
- 1 cup Quick Oats
- 1 tbsp Salt
- 4 tbsp Oil
- 2 tbsp Dry Minced Onions
- 2 tbsp Italian Seasoning
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 2 cups Boiling Water
- 3 3/4 cups Warm Water
- 3 packages Quick Rising Yeast
- 1 tbsp Honey
- 7 1/2 cups Bread Flour
- 3 cups Flour
What You’ll Need for the Garlic Butter:
- 1 lb Butter, Very Soft (Not Melted)
- 3 tbsp Garlic Powder
- 2 tbsp Parsley Flakes
How to Make Homemade Garlic Bread
- Place 1 cup quick oats, 1 tbsp salt, 4 tbsp oil, 2 tbsp dry minced onions, 2 tbsp Italian seasoning, 1 tsp garlic powder, and 2 cups boiling water in a large bowl. Stir and let cool to a little more than lukewarm.
- Add 3 3/4 cups warm water and stir.
- Sprinkle 3 packages quick rising yeast on top. Sprinkle 1 tbsp honey on top of the yeast. Let sit for 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in 7 1/2 cups bread flour. Let sit for 12 minutes.
- Make a well of 3 cups of flour. Pour dough into the well. Knead for 5-10 minutes, adding more flour if needed.
- Place into a well oiled large bowl and cover with saran wrap. Let rise 1 1/2 times it’s size.
- Make 3 long loaves and place side by side on a greased 11 x 15 size cookie sheet with sides.
- With a sharp knife make 4-5 slanted slits in tops of the loaves. Let rise until double in size.
- In the meantime, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 40-45 minutes.
- Place on cooling rack. When cool, slice bread and spread garlic butter on both sides.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 5 minutes on each side.
How to Make Garlic Butter
- Stir together 1 lb very soft butter (not melted), 3 tbsp garlic powder, and 2 tbsp parsley flakes.
