Peach Crescent Rolls with Mountain Dew
I was out of town for a big chunk of peach season this summer. Thankfully, cases of peaches were still available when I was finally ready to bake with them! The first thing I made were these Peach Dumplings with Crescent Rolls!
Quite a while ago I shared my favorite recipe for Apple Dumplings with Crescent Rolls. This version is just as much our favorite as it is with apples! Both induce feel good seasonal feelings, like snuggling up in a sweater while a cool breeze comes through the windows!
I think they are best with a scoop of butter pecan ice cream! If you like fresh peaches, then you will love this Peach Crisp, Baked Sticky Peach Pudding, and Peach Cobbler!
What You’ll Need:
- 2 cans (10 oz each) Pillsbury Refrigerated Crescent Rolls
- 2 Peaches
- 1 cup Butter
- 1 1/2 cups Sugar
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 12 oz Mountain Dew
How to Make Peach Dumplings with Crescent Rolls
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly spray a 9 x 13 pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
- Peel and cut 2 peaches into slices. (You should get 8 slices per peach)
- Place a peach slice in each Crescent Roll triangle, starting at the wide end first. Roll to the end, wrapping the narrow tip around the Crescent Roll to keep into place. Place into sprayed pan.
- Repeat until all 16 Crescent Roll triangles are filled with peaches and placed in the pan.
- Combine 2 sticks of butter, 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, over low heat until well mixed.
- Pour mixture over entire pan of dumplings, evenly distributing it.
- Pour 12 oz Mountain Dew over entire pan of dumplings.
- Bake for 40 minutes. They should be golden brown.
- Best if served immediately!
Recipe Notes:
- Baking – The tops of the dumplings turn a very golden brown from the cinnamon/sugar mixture. This can deceive you as you are baking them. It’s easy to take them out too early because the golden tops look overdone. If the look of the golden tops makes you nervous and you take them out too soon, the bottoms will be doughy. So hang in there, it’s worth the wait!
- Soda – You don’t have to use Mountain Dew. You can substitute it with Sprite, Lemon Lime soda, 7up, or any similar soda.
- Serving – These are best served warm. Once you take them out of the oven, let them cool for just a few minutes while you grab the ice cream then serve. Make sure to scoop up some of the delicious juice at the bottom of the pan and pour it over the ice cream and dumplings.
- Ice Cream – My favorite way to enjoy these is with a scoop of Butter Pecan ice cream. But any vanilla or flavor you prefer works!
- Make Ahead – You can make these a day ahead, but I wouldn’t make them farther ahead than that.
- Storing – They will keep in the refrigerator if kept covered. However, they won’t taste as good as if they were served fresh!
