A traditional Fall experience that fills the room with the delicious, comforting smell of apples and cinnamon!
I know, I know. You can either buy applesauce for cheap at the grocery store or you can slave away in the kitchen making your own and they taste pretty close to the same thing. I’ve told myself this for years. Except, they are not pretty close to the same thing because Homemade Applesauce tastes WAY better! And we are not canning it in this recipe so it’s not only easy to make, it’s quick too!
I grew up accustomed to Homemade Applesauce. My parents made and canned it every Fall. It’s always been a comforting, filling food for me. Then I made the mistake of becoming an adult and the only access I had to it was when I thought of asking if I could grab some from their pantry!
I started buying it from the store and it just wasn’t the same. Sure it tastes good, but it’s a lot of water. It’s not filling at all. There is a HUGE difference in the heartiness and texture between homemade and store bought applesauce. They just do not compare. There is a lot more fiber in the homemade version, which is filling!
My parents have fancy canning equipment that they use. I do not. So, to easy accomplish making applesauce I use this method. Also, put your hubby and kids to work! This is a fun, easy, and productive way to spend time together as a family!
