The Best Apple Fritter Monkey Bread Recipe
I learned about Love & Logic Parenting when my son was little, and what a gift it has been through all of the seasons. They reinforce concepts we are all familiar with, but in a way that works.
They give you one liners for the hard moments. For example, when my son was little he heard over and over, “I put you in a time out because I love you,” or “I won’t let you throw a tantrum because I love you,” or “I will not allow you to hit me because I love you.” From an early age, he learned that discipline equals love.
As he’s gotten older, I find myself saying, “You mow the lawn because we love you enough to make sure you grow into being a responsible adult,” or, “I love you too much to argue,” or “Because we love you, we can’t allow you to spend all of your money, you need to save some of it,” or most recently on repeat, “You have chores because we love you. You are an important part of this family.”
“Because we love you” has probably been said more than any other words in our house! I challenge you to try shutting down any confrontation, complaining, or questioning from your kids the next time they try to argue themselves out of important work or put themselves in position that leaves you no choice but to respond with consequence. It has saved me a bazillion times from trying to think of ‘the right’ thing to say! It’s short, sweet, and final.
I can promise there won’t be any fussing about this Apple Fritter Monkey Bread! If you have leftover apples, make sure to try making Apple Fritter Cinnamon Roll Bake, The Best Apple Pie, Apple Dumplings with Crescent Rolls, or Easy Apple Crisp, too!

- Peel, core, and dice 3 apples. Toss with 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 1 tbsp lemon juice.
- Melt 1 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add apples and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until apples are tender and the liquid is gone. (If apples seem dry, or brown too quickly, add 1 tbsp water periodically to help them soften and not burn.) Cool slightly.

- Cut each biscuit into quarters.
- Add 1 cup sugar and 2 tbsp cinnamon to a gallon Ziplock bag. Shake to mix.
- Put half the quartered biscuits into the cinnamon sugar mixture. Shake to coat until all of the pieces are covered. Distribute evenly into the prepared pan.
- Place the other half of the caramelized apples on top of the biscuits.
- Coat remaining quartered biscuits and place in the pan.
- Once all of the pieces are in the pan, place 1 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup butter into a small sauce pan over low heat. Stir until melted and well combined.
- Pour evenly over the biscuits.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let sit for only a few minutes, then turn over onto a dinner plate.
