Vegan Black Bean Sliders
My weight loss journey has lead me to eating better than I ever have! And you know what, I feel better than I’ve ever felt! I feel soooooo good!! One of my secrets is to losing weight and keeping it off is to load up on black beans whenever I can. They make me feel full and it’s proven to be a key to my success.
I eat black beans in tacos and burritos, with sweet potatoes, in salads, with brown Basmatti rice, on baked potatoes, and in quesadillas. I also like to sneak them in, like in these Vegan Black Bean Sliders!

What You’ll Need:
- 1 (15 oz) can Refried Black Beans
- 1 1/2 cups Quick Oats
- 1 medium Onion, Diced
- 2 tbsp Vital Wheat Gluten Flour
- 1 1/2 tbsp McKay’s Vegetarian Beef Seasoning
- 1 tbsp Parsley
- 1 clove Garlic, Minced

How to Make Black Bean Sliders
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Mix together 1 (15 oz) can refried black beans, 1 1/2 cups quick oats, 1 medium diced onion, 2 tbsp vital wheat gluten flour, 1 1/2 tbsp McKay’s Vegetarian Beef Seasoning, 1 tbsp parsley, and 1 clove minced garlic in a large bowl.
- Form into slider size patties and place onto prepared baking sheet.
- Cover baking sheet with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove the foil, flip the patties, and bake for additional 10 minutes.
Tips:
- Black beans – Instead of refried black beans, you could use 2 cups cooked black beans and mash them.
- Burgers – And instead of making slider size burgers, you can easily make these into regular size burgers!
- Bun – I like to spread a little butter on the inside of the bun, then grill it on a skillet over the stove top or a grill!
- Taco ‘meat’ – After the burgers are baked, you can crumble them up and use them as taco ‘meat.’ You could pan fry the crumbles to make them a little crispy!
- Toppings – Stuff your burger full of the good stuff! You could use lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, sprouts, cucumber, avocado, or peppers! Anything goes!
- Sauce – Try different sauces to compliment this burger: ketchup, mustard, guacamole, chipotle ranch, or garlic mayo!
- Freezing – These are freezer friendly. Just store them in a freezer safe bag.
