Beer Dip with Cream Cheese
I hope you are sitting down because I am about to tell you some shocking news. Are you ready for this? Deep breath…
I don’t drink alcohol OR soda.
I’ll give you a minute to recover…
I don’t drink alcohol for a few reasons: 1) Health, 2) My biological father is an alcoholic, and 3) My husband’s brother is an alcoholic. We’ve seen first hand what it does to families and to the alcoholic themselves, so my husband and I have made a lifetime commitment to never drinking it. I don’t even use it in this Beer Dip!
And I don’t drink soda because I never had it as a kid, so drinking it as an adult just doesn’t interest me.
When I first started making this recipe, I substituted the beer for Sprite. It worked great, but because I don’t drink soda it felt like a chore to go out of my way to get it. I would always forget to grab a bottle of it at the checkout, and I had to waste half of it, so I decided to get creative and try something else.
I started using water and it’s the best substitute I’ve ever tried! It really makes the Ranch seasoning pop!
You don’t have to follow a recipe exactly as it reads. Get creative! I love dipping, it’s fun to experiment and think of different things to dip. If you have fun with it too, try making Taco Dip, Peeps S’mores Dip, or Cream Cheese Apple Dip!

What You’ll Need:
- 2 (8 oz) packages Cream Cheese, Softened
- 1 packet Hidden Valley Dry Ranch Seasoning
- 1/3 cup Water
- 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese

How to Make Beer Dip
- Mix together 2 (16 oz) packages softened cream cheese with 1 package Hidden Valley dry Ranch seasoning. Add in 1/3 cup water and mix until smooth.
- Mix in 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese.

Recipe Notes:
- Beer – The original recipe calls for beer, but I substitute it for water. It tastes so much better because it makes the Ranch seasoning really pop! To keep it non-alcoholic you could also use Sprite, Sierra Mist, milk, or ginger ale.
- Refrigeration – The dip needs to be stored in the refrigerator, but take it out before you are ready to serve to allow it time to soften. If dipping while cold, it’s too firm and the pretzels break when dipping.
