Wisconsin Beer Dip with Ranch Packet
I hope you are sitting down because I am about to tell you some shocking news. Are you ready for this? Deep breath…
I don’t drink alcohol OR soda.
I’ll give you a minute to recover…
I don’t drink alcohol for a few reasons: 1) Health, 2) My biological father is an alcoholic, and 3) My husband’s brother is an alcoholic. We’ve seen first hand what it does to families and to the alcoholic themselves, so my husband and I have made a lifetime commitment to never drinking it. I don’t even use it in this Beer Dip!
And I don’t drink soda because I never had it as a kid, so drinking it as an adult just doesn’t interest me.
When I first started making this recipe, I substituted the beer for Sprite. It worked great, but because I don’t drink soda it felt like a chore to go out of my way to get it. I would always forget to grab a bottle of it at the checkout, and I had to waste half of it, so I decided to get creative and try something else.
I started using milk and it worked great! But I don’t always have regular milk because we use almond milk for almost everything that needs milk. So one day I thought, “I always have water!” HA! So I tried water instead of the beer, Sprite, or milk and it worked just as good as everything else I had tried!
You don’t have to follow a recipe exactly as it reads. Get creative! I love dipping, it’s fun to experiment and think of different things to dip. If you have fun with it too, try making Taco Dip, Peeps S’mores Dip, or Cream Cheese Apple Dip!

What You’ll Need:
- 2 (16 oz) packages Cream Cheese, Softened
- 1 packet Hidden Valley Dry Ranch Seasoning
- 1/3 cup Sprite or Sierra Mist
- 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese

How to Make Beer Dip
- Mix together 2 (16 oz) packages softened cream cheese with 1 package Hidden Valley dry Ranch seasoning. Add in 1/3 cup Sprite/Sierra Mist and mix until smooth.
- Stir in 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese.
Tips & Substitutions:
- Beer – The original recipe calls for beer, but I substitute it for Sprite, Sierra Mist, milk, or water. You could also use non-alcoholic beer or ginger ale.
- Refrigeration – The dip needs to be stored in the refrigerator, but take it out before you are ready to serve to allow it time to soften. If dipping while cold, it’s too firm and the pretzels break when dipping.
