The perfect sweet and salty treat with interchangeable ingredients covered with white chocolate!
Valentine’s Day Chex Mix
We recently agreed that it had been too long since we had been sledding, so we decided to grab our sleds and head for the hill! It was such a beautiful day, the snow was falling as we were sledding.
The three of us used to fit in my husband’s big ice fishing sled perfectly, but not anymore. So just my husband and I got in it and my son used his own. The first couple of jumps we went over we screamed and laughed (and worried we were going to break a bone) and pushed each other out of the sled! It was just really great time. We like feeling like kids again!
Speaking of that feeling, making treats for my son’s classroom gets me excited, too! This Cupid’s Crunch Chex Mix and Love Bug Oreo Cookies are always a hit!
What You’ll Need:
- 2 1/2 cups Pretzels
- 2 1/2 cups Very Berry Cheerios
- 2 1/2 cups Rice Chex
- 1 cup Peanuts
- 1 cup Mini Marshmallows
- 1 bag Valentine M&M’s
- 1 bag Kraft Caramels, Halved
- 2 1/2 cups White Chocolate Chips
- 1 1/2 tbsp Crisco
- Valentine Sprinkles
How to Make Cupid’s Crunch Chex Mix
- Unwrap 1 bag of Kraft caramels, cut each piece in half and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups pretzels, 2 1/2 cups Very Berry Cheerios, 2 1/2 cups Rice Chex, 1 cup peanuts, 1 cup mini-marshmallows, 1 bag Valentine M&M’s, and halved caramels.
- Lay out a large piece of parchment paper on the counter.
- Melt 2 1/2 cups white chocolate chips with 1 1/2 tbsp Crisco until smooth in a microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until melted. Pour the melted chocolate over the mix and stir until well combined and covered.
- Spread over parchment paper and generously sprinkle Valentine’s sprinkles over the mixture. Let sit until hardened. Once set, break into smaller pieces.
Recipe Notes:
- M&M’s – Valentine M&M’s vary in flavor, they are interchangeable so you can use any of them! Some bags are smaller than others, so just sprinkle in a few extra if you think the mix needs them!
- Pretzels – I noticed small bags of X & O pretzels at the grocery store, which I thought would be great for this recipe! But availability of specialty things like that varies so I didn’t use them for this post. Feel free to get creative and use things like that!
- Cereal – Use any flavor of Cheerios or Chex that sounds good!
- Sprinkles – Be generous with the sprinkles!
- Variations – Get creative for different holiday’s. For example, you can use this recipe to make Monster Munch Chex Mix for Halloween.
