Frankenstein Rice Krispies Treats
I spent my summers at our cabin on Sugar Lake in Minnesota when I was a kid. We were in the water all day every day, except every now and then we had a rainy day.
We either played games or watched movies when it wasn’t lake weather. We biked to the Glen Store, which was a tiny little gas station and café. The gas pumps were so old they reminded me of the Andy Griffith show! They only had a few VHS tapes to rent, so we would watch those on repeat.
One of the few movies they had, which was pretty random, was Young Frankenstein (the old black & white movie). I absolutely loved it! From then on Frankenstein has been my favorite Halloween character!
So of course I had to make Frankenstein Rice Krisipie Treats!

- Separate onto parchment paper.
- Melt 2 cups chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until smooth and creamy.
- Dunk one end of a Rice Krispie Treat 1/3 of the way into the melted chocolate. Sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles and set on the parchment paper. Repeat until all of the treats have ‘hair.’
- ‘Glue’ 2 Reese’s Mini’s for bolts with a dot of melted chocolate about 2/3 of the way down on the side of the treats.
- ‘Glue’ 2 candy eyes onto each treat.
- Then pipe on the mouths.
- Let harden.
Pro Tip: Place a Ziplock bag over your hand and spray the outside of the bag with non-stick spray before pressing down the Rice Krispie Treats. This helps to keep them from sticking to your hand!
