Kid-Friendly Halloween Pop-Tart Houses!
My husband is very thorough – drives me crazy because I just wing it! Yet, I selectively wing it. I am inconsistently spontaneous. For example, I like to organize and plan as much of our lives as I can, but when it comes to directions I don’t need them. I just follow my spidy senses. If I take a wrong turn I just turn around. My husband on the other hand, has to have directions. He gets very anxious without them, especially driving through the city.
I like to do things on a whim, but my husband has to dive deep into where we are going and what we are doing if it’s something new to us. One day he and our son thought we should take a day trip to check out a store that sold everything to do with pool. If it was me, I’d jump in the car and go. But my husband did a lot of research on the place and from reading reviews discovered they give tours of how pool cues are made if you ask!
The tour was super cool! An experience we’ll always remember. Our personalities compliment each other because when one of us doesn’t feel like putting in the effort, the other does. We compensate for each other! I never would have thought a trip to the store could teach us how intricately pool cues are made!
This Halloween Pop-Tart Haunted House accommodates both approaches! You can either go into decorating with a plan or just randomly place candy and see what you end up with!

Pop-Tarts Commented: “Hi Jamie! We truly loved your Pop-Tart Halloween House last month, and we’d like to send some product your way!”
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- 6 Cookies & Cream Pop-Tarts – The main structure of the haunted house, providing sturdy walls and a spooky cookies and cream flavor that fits the Halloween theme.
- 1 tube Decorating Icing – Acts as the ‘glue’ to hold the Pop-Tart pieces together and is perfect for adding decorative details like windows, doors, cobwebs, and spooky designs.
- Halloween Candy – Used to customize and decorate each haunted house with festive colors, textures, and fun seasonal touches. Candy can create roofs, pathways, pumpkins, ghosts, or other Halloween inspired details.
How to Make a Halloween Pop-Tart Haunted House
- Lay out a piece of parchment paper.
- Vertically place 1 Pop-Tart down. Lay another one down to the left and to the right of it, lining them up on the bottom.
- Using a knife, find the center of the top of the vertically placed Pop-Tart and cut down to align with each Pop-Tart to the left and right of it.
- Lay the cut Pop-Tart on top of the remaining Pop-Tart and cut along the pointed top so they match.
- Reposition the pieces to form a house, placing the pointed Pop-Tarts on the ends.
- Using decorating icing, ‘glue’ all walls together. Once set, ‘glue’ the roof on.
- Once all edges of the house have dried, begin ‘gluing’ on Halloween candy to decorate as desired.
My Best Tips:
- Let the Icing Set as You Build – Apply icing to one section at a time and allow it to firm up for a few minutes before adding more pieces. This helps prevent the house from collapsing.
- Gather Decorations Before You Start – Have all of your Halloween candies, sprinkles, and icing ready so you can decorate immediately after assembling the house.
- Make it a Group Activity – Set up a decorating station with different candies and let everyone create their own unique haunted house design.
- Don’t Aim for Perfection – Crooked roofs, extra candy, and messy icing often make the houses look even more spooky and fun, which is perfect for Halloween!
