Fruity Pebbles Treats are a fun, colorful twist on classic Rice Krispie treats – soft, chewy, and packed with bright, fruity flavor in every bite!
These Fruity Pebbles Treats Stay Soft and Chewy!
My husband took one bite of these and said, “Those are outstanding!” He loves Fruity Pebbles, but doesn’t like marshmallows, and still gave these a rave review!
These Fruity Pebbles Treats stay soft and chewy because this recipe has the best cereal-to-marshmallow ratio, the heat is controlled by using the microwave instead of the stove top, and just make sure not to press the mixture in to the pan too firm!
All I did was swap Fruity Pebbles for Rice Krispies in my popular Rice Krispie Treat recipe! These are so colorful and so much fun! And, they are super easy to make.
Why this Recipe Works:
- Gentle Mixing Protects the Cereal – Folding the cereal in just until coated prevents crushing the Fruity Pebbles. Over-mixing can bread down the cereal’s coating, causing color streaking and dense bars.
- Lightly Pressing Keeps the Bars Soft – I have found that packing them down too firmly causes the bars to be hard instead of soft and chewy.
- Room Temperature Maintains Chewiness – Letting the treats set at room temperature allows them to firm up without drying out.

Ingredients You’ll Need:
- 3 tbsp Butter (Melted) – Adds richness and helps the marshmallows melt smoothly while preventing the mixture from sticking.
- 1 (10 oz) bag Marshmallows – A sweet, sticky binder that holds the cereal together and gives the treats their soft, chewy texture.
- 6 cups Fruity Pebbles Cereal – Signature fruity flavor, vibrant color, and light, crispy crunch that makes these treats fun and nostalgic.
How to Make the Best Fruity Pebbles Treats
NOTE: You can replace the Fruity Pebbles with Rice Krispies to make Original Rice Krispie Treats.
- Spray 9 x 13 pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
- Melt 3 tbsp butter in a large microwave safe bowl.
- Pour 1 (10 oz) bag of marshmallows into the bowl and stir.
- Place into microwave for 45 seconds, remove and stir.
- Return to the microwave and heat for another 45 seconds. Remove from the microwave and stir again.
- Pour 6 cups Fruity Pebbles into the melted marshmallows and mix until well combined.
- Distribute evenly and press lightly into the pan.
Pro Tip: Place a Ziplock bag over your hand and spray the outside of the bag with non-stick spray before pressing down the Fruit Treats. This helps to keep them from sticking to your hand!
My Best Tips:
- Use Fresh Marshmallows – Fresh marshmallows melt smoother and create softer, gooier treats. Old or stale marshmallows can make the bars dense and hard instead of chewy.
- Let Cool Before Cutting – Allow the treats to cool completely so they set properly. Cutting too soon can cause them to fall apart or stick excessively.
- Press Lightly into the Pan – Gently press the mixture into the pan instead of packing it down. Pressing too firmly leads to hard bars.
- Storing – Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for best texture and flavor.
