Best Beer Dip for Pretzels Without Beer!
I hope you are sitting down because I am about to tell you some shocking news. Are you ready for this? Deep breath…
I don’t drink alcohol OR soda.
I’ll give you a minute to recover…
I don’t drink alcohol for a few reasons: 1) Health, 2) My biological father is an alcoholic, and 3) My husband’s brother is an alcoholic. We’ve seen first hand what it does to families and to the alcoholic themselves, so my husband and I have made a lifetime commitment to never drinking it. I don’t even use it in this Beer Dip!
And I don’t drink soda because I never had it as a kid, so drinking it as an adult just doesn’t interest me.
When I first started making this recipe, I substituted the beer for Sprite. It worked great, but because I don’t drink soda it felt like a chore to go out of my way to get it. I would always forget to grab a bottle of it at the checkout, and I had to waste half of it, so I decided to get creative and try something else.
I started using water and it’s the best substitute I’ve ever tried! It really makes the Ranch seasoning pop!
Why this Recipe Works:
- Rich and Ultra-Creamy Texture – The cream cheese creates a smooth, velvety base that’s perfect for dipping pretzels, crackers, and vegetables.
- Bold Flavor Without Beer – Ranch seasoning adds a savory blend of herbs, garlic, onion, and tangy flavor that gives the dip plenty of depth without needing beer.
- Simple Ingredients – With only four ingredients, this recipe is easy to make and requires minimal preparation.
- Perfect for Parties – It’s a great make ahead appetizer that works well for game day, tailgates, potlucks, and picnics.
What You’ll Need:
- 2 (8 oz) packages Cream Cheese (Softened) – Creates a rich, creamy base and gives the dip its smooth, spreadable texture.
- 1 packet Hidden Valley Dry Ranch Seasoning – Adds savory herbs, garlic, onion, and tangy Ranch flavor that helps mimic the bold taste often associated with traditional Beer Dip.
- 1/3 cup Water – Thins the cream cheese mixture to a dippable consistency while helping blend the seasonings evenly throughout the dip.
- 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese – Provides a sharp, cheesy flavor and classic Beer Dip taste without using any beer.
How to Make Beer Dip Without the Beer
- Mix together 2 (16 oz) packages softened cream cheese with 1 package Hidden Valley dry Ranch seasoning. Add in 1/3 cup water and mix until smooth.
- Mix in 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese.
My Best Tips:
- Substituting the Beer – The original recipe calls for beer, but I have found the best substitute for it is water. It tastes so much better because it makes the Ranch seasoning really pop! To keep it non-alcoholic I have also tried using Sprite, milk, and ginger ale in place of the water.
- Let Soften Before Serving – The dip needs to be stored in the refrigerator, but take it out at least 30 minutes before you are ready to serve to allow it time to soften. If dipping while too cold, it’s too firm and the pretzels break when dipping.
- Serve With the Right Dippers – Soft pretzels, pretzel rods, crackers, pita chips, pretzels, or fresh vegetables pair perfectly with this dip.
