Easy Lucky Charms Cookies
There aren’t a lot of clothing stores for women in my town, so I am a frequent flyer at Maurices. Every now and then I have a meltdown over feeling like I wear the same thing all the time and go there for a wardrobe refresh. They may or may not recognize me… I cannot confirm or deny. HA!
When I walked in they told me all about the great sales they were having, so I grabbed a ton of stuff to try on and shockingly felt great in most of it. When I was all done I piled it on the counter and absolutely nothing in that stack of clothes qualified for the sale. Of course. Sigh.
So, as they rang stuff up I started keep and put back piles. I didn’t keep much because it really added up fast. The lady who helped me was really pushing a store credit card for the savings, therefore allowing me to get more of what I wanted. And of course, she gets commission from convincing me to get one. I passively told her I wasn’t interested, but by the third or fourth time of her pushing it on me I really regretted not declining more firmly.
I explained that my husband and I have agreements when it comes to our finances and part of that pact is no store credit cards. I told her that if I didn’t keep my word it gives him permission to break his promise, too. She understood, I paid, and turned to leave the store.
As my son and I were just getting to the door, she came up to us and tearfully told my son what a good example of not betraying someone’s trust that was and commended me. I should have felt appreciative for the compliment, but instead I felt pain for her because she has obviously been let down in a big enough way that it brought her to tears. I hugged her, I didn’t know how else to respond!
God has promised to help and give us strength, all we need to do is ask. He will never impose Himself on us, He gives us the freedom to choose. Looking back, I wish I had the courage to remind her of that.
We never know what people have been through or what they may be going through. All we know is that nobody has it easy. We should always be a good example and be kind, yet firm in what we believe. You never know who is watching.
